Mongol Rally Day 51

Somewhere before Bayankhongor (MGL)- Somewhere between Arvaikheer and Edernasant (MGL)

September 2, 2014

Today our car Takhi Butter wanted to be free and didn’t want the sump guard anymore! The sump guard was loosen on one corner when we did our oil change in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The young mechanics over tighten the bolts and caused the hexagonal head broken off.

I was driving at the time I didn’t see a rock stood up straight in front of me.

I cannot imagine how we smelled at this point. we didn’t take a shower since Barnaul, Russia. That was 7 days ago.

Then we stopped by the town Bayankhongor and fixed our stomach. Everything tasted so delicious!

Some part of the road are smooth paved tarmac.

We kept driving until we arrived in a maze of unpaved road. It was already very dark and it was tremendously difficult to find a way to cross the river. From what we understand was that the bridge was under re-construction and the cars just went every direction to find the river crossing point. It was an absolutely nightmare. Too bad we didn’t take any pictures it was way too dark

Finally we found our way and we camped and slept in our tent from 12-6 am.
